Story

Kiwi Giyim — officially Özbakır Knitwear — was founded in 2010 with a single mission: give international fashion brands direct access to premium Turkish flat-knit, without the overhead of agents and trading companies. Over the years that focus only deepened — never into woven, but further into knit. Today we operate as a complete knitwear partner: an in-house flat-knit factory (Shima Seiki WHOLEGARMENT + Stoll CMS) plus a vetted knit partner network for jersey and extended ranges — one contact, one quality standard, nothing woven.

Mehmet Özbakır has been hands-on in flat-knit manufacturing since 2010. Trained on Shima Seiki and Stoll CMS machine systems, he founded Kiwi Giyim after identifying a gap in the market: international brands wanted Turkish flat-knit quality but were losing margin to agents and middlemen. Over the years, the offer expanded — not into woven, but deeper into knit: WHOLEGARMENT as our flagship capability, and a vetted knit partner network for jersey, loungewear and extended ranges, all coordinated under one roof.

Today Mehmet is your single point of contact from the first inquiry through to final shipment — whether that order sits on our own Shima Seiki machines or runs through our partner network. When you request a quote, he reads it. When you have a technical question about gauge or yarn substitution, he answers it. There is no account manager, no trading company, no markup layer between you and the factory. Knit-focused by design: no woven, no shirts, trousers or denim.

Gaziantep is Turkey's textile manufacturing capital. Proximity to Mersin and İskenderun ports enables worldwide export by sea, land & air — to Uganda via Mombasa or Dar es Salaam plus overland to Kampala, and on to East Africa, UK, US, Europe and beyond, on request.

Responsible Sourcing

We source yarns from mills that meet the standards your market expects — OEKO-TEX®-compliant and equivalent — and pass the supporting certificates through with each order, rather than claiming accreditations the factory itself doesn't hold.

We're an OEM partner: we manufacture your designs to your spec. You'll always know what runs on our own Shima Seiki and Stoll machines versus our partner network, where your yarn comes from, and what's realistic on lead time and cost — no overpromising.
