If you are searching for a clothing manufacturer in Turkey, here is the honest version before the sales pitch: Turkey is one of the world's largest garment-exporting countries, and thousands of factories here will tell you they make "everything". We won't. Kiwi Giyim is a knitwear specialist — a pure OEM flat-knit factory in Gaziantep that makes sweaters, cardigans, knit dresses and vests on its own machines, and coordinates a small, transparent partner network for adjacent knit categories. If your programme is woven shirts or denim, we are not your factory, and we'll say so in the first email. If it involves knitwear, you have found one of the deepest places in Turkey to make it.

This page explains why Turkey works so well for clothing production, exactly which categories we do and don't cover, and how an order runs from tech pack to delivery.

Why Make Clothing in Turkey?

01

Duty-Free to the EU

The EU–Turkey Customs Union means qualifying garments travel with an A.TR certificate at effectively 0% duty — a structural cost advantage no Far East origin can match.

02

Days, Not Weeks

Direct truck to Central Europe in roughly 3–4 days, standard groupage in 5–7. Ocean to the US East Coast in about 12–14 days. Mid-season reorders become realistic.

03

A Mature Ecosystem

Yarn spinners, dyehouses, trims and accredited testing labs within driving distance. In Gaziantep, one of Turkey's densest knitwear clusters, the supply chain is on the doorstep.

04

Nearshoring, For Real

European working hours, factory visits as a day trip via Istanbul, English-speaking export teams — and at our factory, the founder answering directly.

For the wider case — costs, logistics, compliance — see why brands source from Turkey and nearshoring knitwear to Europe.

What We Make — and What We Honestly Don't

In-house: flat-knit knitwear

  • Sweaters, cardigans, pullovers, vests and knit dresses
  • 22 flat-knit machines — Shima Seiki WHOLEGARMENT (seamless) and Stoll CMS
  • Full gauge range 3–14gg; intarsia, jacquard, cable, rib, pointelle, fully-fashioned
  • Merino, cashmere, alpaca, cotton and blends — certified yarns on request
  • Linking, finishing and AQL-based QC under our own roof

Outside the core — said plainly

  • Jersey & loungewear: produced through our vetted partner network — always disclosed, never hidden subcontracting, QC coordinated by us
  • Woven clothing (shirts, blouses, denim, tailoring): we don't make it and won't broker it
  • If your range is mostly woven, we'll tell you upfront and you keep your time
  • Hybrid collections work well: knit programme with us, other categories with your existing suppliers

Knitwear Depth, Not Generalist Breadth

Specialisation is the whole point. A generalist clothing factory runs knitwear as a side line; we run it as the entire business. That shows up in the details buyers actually feel: WHOLEGARMENT seamless programmes knitted in one piece with near-zero cutting waste, fully-fashioned panels shaped on the machine, chunky 3gg winter pieces through fine 14gg layering knits, and colourwork — intarsia and jacquard — executed by technicians who do nothing else all year. The full machine and technique list is on our capabilities page.

We work as a pure OEM manufacturer: your designs, your tech pack, your label — we never build our own brand against you. For brands developing their own collections, the private-label knitwear page covers how that works end to end.

How an Order Runs

1

Brief & feasibility

Send a tech pack, sketch or reference garment. Within 48 hours we confirm feasibility, flag gaps and give indicative pricing.

2

Sampling

First sample in 10–14 days; fit rounds until the garment is right, then a pre-production sample in bulk yarn with final labels.

3

Bulk production

45–60 days after PP approval, with in-line QC and a TOP sample checked against your signed-off reference.

4

Export

Final AQL inspection, your packaging applied, A.TR and export documents prepared, and shipment on your chosen Incoterm — worldwide from Gaziantep.

MOQ: 250 pcs per colour/size. Samples: $80–180 depending on complexity. Pricing: itemised and transparent — see what drives unit cost.

Compliance Without Inflated Claims

A caution for anyone comparing Turkish clothing manufacturers: certificate pages are often more decorative than real. Our position is simple — the certifications belong to our yarn suppliers, and we say so. OEKO-TEX, GOTS and GRS certified yarns are available on request with supplier certificates passed to you, we provide REACH / CPSIA / GPSR documentation, and we arrange third-party testing where your market requires it. What we sign in our own name — enforceable NDAs, itemised quotes, AQL inspection reports — we stand behind. More in the certifications guide.

Comparing Sourcing Countries?

If Turkey is on your shortlist next to other origins, we've written honest comparisons rather than sales copy: Turkey vs China, Turkey vs EU production, Turkey vs Portugal for knitwear and Turkey vs US. Each one names the cases where the other country is the better choice — because sometimes it is.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a general clothing manufacturer or a specialist?

We are a knitwear specialist, not a generalist. Flat-knit garments — sweaters, cardigans, knit dresses, vests — are made in-house on our own Shima Seiki and Stoll machines. Jersey and loungewear can be produced through our transparent partner network, clearly labelled as such. We do not produce woven clothing such as shirts, denim or tailoring.

What is your minimum order quantity?

250 pieces per colour/size for our in-house knitwear. Each size is knitted as its own fully-fashioned programme, not cut from shared fabric — a real production run for growing brands.

Is there import duty on clothing made in Turkey for the EU?

Under the EU–Turkey Customs Union, qualifying garments shipped with an A.TR movement certificate enter the EU at effectively 0% duty. The paperwork is routine for any export-oriented Turkish factory, including ours.

How fast can you deliver to Europe and the US?

First samples in 10–14 days, bulk in 45–60 days after pre-production approval. Transit: direct truck to Central Europe in roughly 3–4 days (5–7 days on standard groupage), ocean freight to the US East Coast in about 12–14 days, and air freight where a launch date demands it.

Do you hold factory certifications?

We are honest about this: the certifications sit with our yarn suppliers — OEKO-TEX, GOTS and GRS certified yarns are available on request, with supplier certificates passed to you. We provide REACH, CPSIA and GPSR documentation and arrange third-party testing where your market requires it. We do not claim factory-level certificates we do not hold.

Is your programme a knit programme?

Send a tech pack, a reference garment or just a line sheet. We reply within one business day — with a quote if it's knitwear, and with a straight "we're not the right factory" if it isn't.
