Australia is the world's largest producer of apparel-grade wool, and most extra-fine merino yarn on the global market is spun from Australian tops — combed and spun in Italy, Turkey or Asia, then knitted wherever the machines and the craft sit. If Australian wool origin is part of your brand story, nominate it in the tech pack: we will specify a spinner that documents wool origin and composition, and pass that paperwork through with the shipment.

This is the single thing Northern-Hemisphere factories get wrong about Australian knitwear brands: your winter is their summer. Our minimum is 250 pieces for every colour and every size — not 250 pieces per style. The reason is technical: on flat-knit machines each size is knitted as its own fully-fashioned programme, so every size is effectively its own production set-up. Do the maths before you plan the range:

The practical lesson: a tight colour card and a disciplined size run is what keeps a first merino programme affordable. We would rather you launch two colourways properly than six colourways you cannot fund. We grade to your size chart — AU womenswear sizing or your own spec sheet.

What we win on for mid-sized, design-led merino programmes is construction quality, in-house WHOLEGARMENT, enforceable NDAs, a single named site you can put in a Modern Slavery statement, and a founder who answers in English within a business day.
