For New Zealand brands, Turkey is a standout China+1 partner: the same Japanese/German machines and WHOLEGARMENT, founder-direct communication, and a 250 MOQ that suits smaller NZ order volumes. New Zealand has no FTA with Turkey, so standard MFN duty applies — NZ clothing duty is low (roughly 0–10%, low single digits typical; confirm the exact HS-61 rate at import) and similar for both Turkish and Chinese origin, so the decision comes down to quality, lead time and trust, not tariffs.
Kiwi Giyim does not hold facility-level certifications — we source certified yarns from accredited suppliers and produce to your target market's requirements, passing the supplier's certificates and traceability to you.

Knit-to-shape technology (WHOLEGARMENT & fully-fashioned) means minimal fabric waste per garment. GOTS organic cotton, GRS recycled yarns and OEKO-TEX-certified yarns sourced from accredited suppliers — available on all orders.
Sea freight to Auckland or Tauranga in ~30–45 days (transshipping via Singapore or Australia). It is a longer route than the Far East — we offset it with reliable planning and committed lead times. FOB or DDP, priced in NZ$/USD. NZ has no FTA with Turkey, so low MFN duty applies — confirm the current HS-61 rate at import.
First sample delivered and shipped in 10–14 days, $80–180 incl. shipping. Bulk production follows in 45–60 days from approved sample — planned scheduling protects your season.
FAQ
We're a dedicated knitwear manufacturer. We knit each garment to shape on Shima Seiki WHOLEGARMENT and Stoll flat-knitting machines, producing fully-fashioned pieces rather than cutting and sewing panels from woven fabric. If your product is a sweater, cardigan, pullover, vest or knit dress, that flat-knit route is exactly what we do.
We supply finished garments only. We don't sell knit fabric or yarn by the metre, and we're not a fabric mill. You receive completed, ready-to-ship knitwear made to your specifications and labelled under your brand.
Our minimum order is 250 pieces per colour and style. That makes us a practical option for New Zealand labels launching a collection, testing new styles, or reordering in sensible quantities on a real production run.
To be straight with you, New Zealand doesn't have a free-trade agreement with Turkey, so we can't promise duty-free entry. New Zealand does apply relatively low MFN import duties on knitwear, and GST applies on import, but the exact duty rate depends on the specific product and tariff classification. We'd recommend confirming the current rate and total landed cost with a licensed customs broker before you order.
Yes. We work on an OEM and private-label basis, manufacturing entirely under your label, your tech packs and your specifications. We don't sell a competing brand of our own, so your designs and your market stay yours.
We're based in Gaziantep, Turkey, and have been manufacturing knitwear here since 2010. To be honest about it, we're not a New Zealand factory, so if you specifically need domestic production we're not the right fit. If you're after a specialist flat-knit partner with a 250-piece minimum and export experience, that's precisely where we add value.
