Founded in 2010 by Mehmet Özbakır — Shima Seiki and Stoll-trained, hands-on in flat-knit ever since. For Irish brands, Turkey is a standout China+1 partner: as an EU member, Ireland receives Turkish knitwear at 0% customs duty via the EU–Turkey Customs Union (A.TR), versus ~12% MFN on China-made knitwear; ocean freight reaches Dublin in ~12–18 days, and a clean single-site supply chain supports your EU due diligence.
Kiwi Giyim does not hold facility-level certifications — we source certified yarns from accredited suppliers and produce to your target market's requirements, passing the supplier's certificates and traceability to you.
You work directly with Mehmet Özbakır — no agencies, no middlemen, no markup. Faster decisions, transparent pricing, and a single accountable contact from sample to shipment.
Knit-to-shape technology (WHOLEGARMENT & fully-fashioned) means minimal fabric waste per garment. GOTS organic cotton, GRS recycled yarns and OEKO-TEX-certified yarns sourced from accredited suppliers — available on all orders.
As an EU member, Ireland receives Turkish knitwear at 0% customs duty via the EU–Turkey Customs Union (we provide the A.TR movement certificate); Irish VAT still applies on import, as normal. Ocean to Dublin/Cork in ~12–18 days (sometimes via N. European transshipment) — FOB or DDP, priced in €.
First sample delivered and shipped in 10–14 days, €80–180 incl. shipping. Bulk production follows in 45–60 days from approved sample — planned scheduling protects your season.
FAQ
We are a knitwear manufacturer. We knit our garments to shape on flat-knitting machines — Shima Seiki WHOLEGARMENT and Stoll — rather than cutting and sewing panels from woven fabric, so we are not a cut-and-sew house or a sewing workshop. Every piece, from sweaters and cardigans to pullovers, vests and knit dresses, is engineered stitch by stitch on our own machines.
We make finished garments, not knit fabric sold by the metre. Yarn goes in and complete, ready-to-label knitwear comes out — knitted to shape, linked, washed and finished in-house. If you need piece goods or fabric rolls, we are not your supplier; if you want a finished sweater or cardigan, we are.
Yes. Our minimum order is 250 pieces per colour, per size, which is genuinely low for flat-knit production. That makes us a practical partner for emerging labels, capsule collections and seasonal drops where committing to very large volumes isn't an option.
For most knitwear, no. Ireland is in the EU, and under the EU–Turkey Customs Union our garments generally enter duty-free (0% duty) when accompanied by the A.TR certificate, which we issue — a structural cost advantage over imports from Asia. There is still a customs border and Irish VAT applies on import as normal, so we'd always recommend confirming the exact tariff line and any charges with your freight forwarder.
Yes. We work on an OEM and private-label basis, producing knitwear under your own label and to your own designs and specifications. We never sell a competing brand of our own — the collection stays entirely yours, and your customers only ever see your name.
We are based in Gaziantep, Turkey, one of the country's main textile hubs, and have been manufacturing knitwear since 2010. To be straight with you, we are not an Irish factory, so if your brand needs genuinely domestic, made-in-Ireland production, we are honestly not the right fit. If you want a nearby, duty-advantaged and competitive knitwear manufacturer within easy reach of Ireland, that is exactly what we offer.
