Shipping Knitwear: Turkey to the UK

Routes, ports, realistic transit and who handles what — the freight basics for a UK brand bringing jumpers in from Turkey, duty-free.

Turkey's proximity is a quiet UK advantage. Short-sea ocean freight reaches Felixstowe in roughly 10–14 days, with road freight via Europe an option for faster or smaller loads — against four to six weeks from the Far East. Shorter lanes mean tighter seasons and less cash sitting in a container.

Who Handles What: Incoterms

EXW

Ex Works

You (or your forwarder) take over at our door and arrange everything onward. Most control, most admin your side.

FOB

Free On Board

We clear the goods for export and load at the Turkish port; you handle the sea leg, UK customs and delivery. The common middle ground.

DDP

Delivered Duty Paid

Door to door as one landed figure. Simplest for you; we coordinate with your forwarder or ours.

Customs & the Duty-Free Bit

Your customs broker files the UK import declaration. To land at the FTA's 0%, the entry must claim preference and be supported by proof of origin — the EUR.1 movement certificate or origin declaration we provide. Get a commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading that match, the right commodity code, and that origin proof, and the entry is clean. Miss the proof and the full UK Global Tariff applies.
