Turtleneck & Rollneck Sweater Manufacturer for Ghana

OEM turtleneck and mock turtleneck sweaters for Ghanaian brands — extra-fine merino, cashmere blends, flat-knit and WHOLEGARMENT seamless. The neck detail done right, from the collar construction to the finished hand, shipped Mersin to Tema.

The turtleneck is a wardrobe staple that lives and dies by the collar. Too short and it doesn't fold properly; too stiff and it doesn't sit; too scratchy and the customer returns it. We produce turtleneck and mock-turtleneck sweaters with collar proportions that are spec'd correctly from the tech pack stage — the fold-height, the rib tension, the seam or seam-free construction — so the finished garment wears the way the customer expects. For Ghanaian brands building a premium knit line, this is the detail that separates a returnable product from a repeat seller. Start with our OEM knitwear programme and we'll build the collar spec around your line.

Turtleneck Manufacturing Capabilities

01

Collar Options

Full rollneck (fold-over, 10–15cm), mock turtleneck (standing, 5–8cm), polo neck (structured longer fold). All in rib — 1×1, 2×2, 3×3 depending on collar hand and structure required.

02

WHOLEGARMENT Seamless

Integral seamless collar with no neck-seam — the cleanest construction for a fine-gauge turtleneck. Knitted on our 15 Shima Seiki WHOLEGARMENT machines at 12gg and 14gg in merino and cashmere blends.

03

Fibre Range

Extra-fine merino, cashmere-merino blend, cashmere-modal, cotton (for lightweight turtlenecks). We'll recommend the fibre based on gauge and retail price-point.

04

Gauge & Body

7gg for structured mid-weight, 10–12gg for fine knit layering, 14gg for ultra-fine. Plain, rib body or textured-body turtlenecks all available — produced in-house on our 7 Stoll flat-knit machines.

The WHOLEGARMENT Turtleneck Advantage

The most common quality complaint on turtleneck sweaters is the neck seam — a bulk point where the collar meets the body, especially noticeable in fine-gauge pieces. WHOLEGARMENT knitting eliminates this: the collar and body are knitted as one continuous piece on a Shima Seiki machine, with no seam, no linking join, no weak point. The collar folds or stands cleanly with natural tension and no bulk.

For Ghanaian brands targeting the Accra premium market and the diaspora, a WHOLEGARMENT turtleneck in extra-fine merino or cashmere blend is one of the strongest value propositions in a cool-season or travel collection — quality customers can feel the difference and it reduces return rates. Why Ghana, Why Turkey — Honestly

Let's be direct about the economics. There is no free-trade agreement between Turkey and Ghana, so a finished turtleneck enters under the ECOWAS Common External Tariff (around 20% on apparel) plus VAT, NHIL, GETFund and the COVID-19 health levy — pushing the effective rate above the headline duty. Chinese-made knitwear pays exactly the same, so there is no tariff advantage over China. We won't pretend otherwise.

What you get instead is consistent flat-knit quality, China+1 supply diversification, WHOLEGARMENT seamless construction that few suppliers offer, and a factory that does business in English from spec to delivery. Ghana's own textile heritage — the GTP and Akosombo wax-print and woven kente tradition — is a different category entirely; our flat-knit sweaters complement it rather than competing with it. See the full comparison in our cotton sweater and merino cardigan ranges, both built on the same honest footing.

Import & Logistics into Ghana

We ship FOB Mersin, with sea freight to the Port of Tema (or Takoradi) running roughly 10–14 days in transit before clearance. Customs clearance runs through ICUMS — the UNIPASS platform — with the GRA, and conformity is handled with the GSA. We supply a clean documentation pack (commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin) so your clearing agent can lodge the declaration without back-and-forth.

Prices are quoted in USD; duties and levies settle in GHS (Cedi) on the duty-inclusive value. Ghana's stable, English-speaking business environment and the Accra retail market make it a natural fit for a premium imported knit line. When you're ready, send a tech pack through our contact page or browse the full factory overview on the Ghana homepage.

FAQ

What is the difference between a turtleneck and a mock turtleneck in flat-knit production?

A turtleneck (also called a rollneck or polo neck) has a long collar that folds over, typically 10–15cm finished height with fold-over. A mock turtleneck has a shorter, non-fold collar (typically 5–8cm) that stands on its own. In flat-knit production, both are knitted as extended rib sections on the same machine — the difference is collar length and whether a seam or fold-line is required. WHOLEGARMENT eliminates seams entirely for both styles.

Is there a tariff advantage for Ghanaian importers buying from Turkey instead of China?

No. There is no free-trade agreement between Turkey and Ghana, so finished knitwear enters under the ECOWAS Common External Tariff at around 20%, plus the standard levies — VAT, NHIL, GETFund and the COVID-19 health levy — applied on the duty-inclusive value. Chinese-made knitwear pays the same duty, so there is no customs saving versus China. Our case for Ghanaian brands is quality, China+1 supply diversification, WHOLEGARMENT seamless construction, English-language business communication and premium fibres — not a cheaper landed cost.

How does a turtleneck order from Turkey reach Ghana, and how long does it take?

We ship FOB Mersin. Sea freight to the Port of Tema (or Takoradi) typically runs about 10–14 days in transit, before clearance. Clearance is handled through ICUMS (the UNIPASS platform) with the GRA, with conformity through the GSA. We provide the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin so your clearing agent can lodge the declaration cleanly. Prices quote in USD; duties and levies settle in GHS (Cedi).
