What a jumper sold in Great Britain must tell the buyer — fibre, care and origin — and how to get it right at the factory, not on a relabelling run.
UK textile labelling rules require that the fibre composition of a textile product is shown before it's sold — using standard fibre names and the percentage of each by weight, in English. For knitwear that's the non-negotiable label; care instructions and country of origin then round out what UK buyers expect. Get it built into the garment at the factory and it's invisible; get it wrong and it means relabelling or returns.
Standard fibre names with the percentage of each by weight, in order of predominance — e.g. "70% Wool, 30% Cashmere" — in English. The core legal requirement.
Washing, drying and ironing guidance. Not strictly mandatory in the UK the way fibre content is, but expected by retailers and customers — and cheap insurance against complaints.
"Made in Türkiye." Not always legally mandatory for textiles in GB, but widely expected, and it must be accurate where shown.
Your brand identity and UK sizing, applied to your spec at finishing.
A few traps: fibre percentages must match the actual yarn (your mill certificate should back the label); decorative trims and linings have their own disclosure rules; and labels need to be durable and legible, not a hang-tag that's binned on day one. Tell the factory the full construction — every yarn and trim — so the label is built right the first time.
We produce to your label spec: fibre content from the actual yarn, care and origin labelling, your brand and UK sizing, applied at finishing. You supply artwork and any brand requirements; we build the garment to match and pass you the documentation. This is general guidance, not legal advice — final responsibility for placing compliant goods on the UK market stays with you.
Send your tech pack and label spec. We'll confirm fibre, construction and labelling on the sample before bulk — so what reaches the UK is already right.
