Sampling is where a knitwear program is won or lost — it's the one point where you can hold the product, check the hand-feel and fix the fit before spending on bulk. We treat it that way. Send a tech pack (or a reference sweater), and our in-house knit technicians in Gaziantep, Turkey produce a proto sample in 10–14 days, $80–180 including shipping to the US. No minimum for sampling — samples are single units.

Honest, up front: a sample is a real, costed development step, not a free giveaway — free samples are a red flag in this industry. But it's the cheapest insurance you'll buy: a $120 sample that catches a fit problem saves a 250-piece bulk mistake.

The Sampling Sequence

1

Proto (first) sample

Your design knitted for the first time — 10–14 days, $80–180 incl. shipping, one colourway, one size. Proves the construction, gauge and look.

2

Fit sample (SMS)

Adjusted to your measurements and fit block. We grade to US size specs, not converted EU patterns. Usually two to three rounds land an approved fit.

3

Pre-production (PP) sample

The final sign-off sample in the correct yarn and colour — what bulk is measured against. A size set here confirms your grade holds across the run.

4

Bulk with confidence

Once you approve the PP sample, bulk runs in 45–60 days against it, with 100% in-house QC per size and colourway. No surprises.

Knitwear Sampling — FAQ

Do you make samples before a bulk order?

Yes — sampling has no minimum; proto and salesman samples are single units. We produce a proto sample in 10–14 days from an approved tech pack, so you can see and feel the product before committing to bulk.

How much does a knitwear sample cost?

A proto sample runs $80–180 including shipping to the US (one colourway, one size). A salesman sample runs $120–250 and turns in 14–21 days from proto sign-off. Additional sizes for a size set are $60–100 each. If a sample has a construction fault that's our fault, we reproduce it at no charge.

What sampling stages do you offer?

Proto (first) sample, fit sample (SMS), pre-production (PP) sample and TOP sample. Two to three rounds to an approved PP sample is typical before bulk is confirmed. A size set confirms your grade holds across the run.

What do you need from us to start a sample?

A tech pack is ideal — but a sketch, a reference sweater you love, or measurements will get us started. Our knit technicians review gauge, construction and yarn within 48 hours and come back with feasibility, yarn options and indicative pricing.

Can you match a specific yarn for the sample?

We sample in your specified yarn where it's in stock; if not, we substitute the closest available and note it, then source the exact yarn for bulk. Yarn is the biggest driver of hand-feel and cost, so we get it right before production.
